Public Sector: Yorkshire partnership brings in Cicada

A new public/private partnership set up to replace the Government's Business Link in Yorkshire has appointed a PR agency as it prepares to promote its services.

Harrogate-based Cicada Communications has been appointed by the York, North Yorkshire & East Riding Local Enterprise Partnership to support its PR and marketing activities.

Di Burton, MD of Cicada Communications, said: 'It is both positive and encouraging in uncertain economic times to see new contracts such as this coming through the door.'

The newly formed enterprise partnership will provide business support across the region following the demise of Business Link.

Local enterprise partnerships are intended to replace public sector economic development services across the country when these cease to exist in late 2011 and early 2012.

These partnerships straddle the boundary between the public and private sector, and this North East partnership has councillors from North Yorkshire, City of York and Scarborough councils on its board.

Cicada will support the comms team as the LEP builds its profile in the region and helps to strengthen its links with business organisations.
