WPP has agreed to acquire US public affairs firm The Glover Park Group.

Founded in 2001, the 140-strong Glover Park Group offers public affairs, media relations, government affairs, opinion research, crisis comms, digital strategy, corporate reputation, advertising and brand positioning services.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approval.

Glover Park Group is headquartered in Washington, DC and has offices in New York, Los Angeles and Boulder, Colorado. The agency has clients in healthcare, financial services reform, education, energy and international relations.

Glover Park Group has £38m in annual revenue, putting it among the US’s largest independent comms companies. It was founded by four Democratic operatives, Carter Eskew, Joe Lockhart, Mike Feldman and Chip Smith. Lockhart joined Facebook as V-P of comms in June.

WPP already owns PR brands such as Ogilvy PR, Hill & Knowlton, Burson-Marsteller, and Cohn & Wolfe. WPP is the world’s largest comms services group, with revenues of approximately £9.6bn.
