Universal Music has used Pelham Bell Pottinger to support comms around its £1.2bn purchase of EMI Music.

The agency worked on the transaction and will continue to provide PR support around EMI going forwards. Universal parent Vivendi also received comms advice from Capital MSL over the EMI deal.

College Hill has recruited Mark Lunn as a partner in the financial team. He joins from Dubai International Capital and before that he worked at Kreab Gavin Anderson. Meanwhile, College Hill's financial services team has been appointed by Hastings, the UK provider of personal insurance, after a competitive pitch.

MHP surveyed 77 hedge fund managers globally, each with at least US$1bn in assets under management, and found they were ignoring social media. Eight per cent were still without a corporate site, while 99 per cent had no Twitter feed.

Lend Lease, the listed property group, has appointed Dan Bridgett as head of corporate affairs EMEA. He is currently head of external affairs at housebuilder Barratt and will start his new role in the New Year.

Medgenics, the medical technology firm, has called in Abchurch for a corporate and financial brief to raise its profile within the life science, healthcare and financial press.
