AMV Advance and Fishburn Hedges win boat show PR

AMV Advance PR has been appointed by the British Marine Industries

Federation (BMIF) to handle consumer PR for its London and Southampton

boat shows after a four-way pitch.

The agency will help with the boat show's 2004 move from its traditional

Earl's Court home to the recently-completed ExCel exhibition centre in

Docklands, east London.

AMVA will join forces with Fishburn Hedges, which has also been

appointed to handle corporate and public affairs for the BMIF.

Both agencies are subsidiaries of ad giant Abbot Mead Vickers BBDO.

AMVA beat Hill & Knowlton, Burson-Marsteller and the incumbent Harrison

Saddler in the pitch.

'AMVA is to build a consumer programme for Windsor's boating trade

fair,' said group PR director Lucinda Evans, who will report to the boat

show's marketing director James Gower on the account.

Evans will lead a team of four on the 12-month contract, and will

support BMIF work year-round.

'Part of our pitch was building the platform for the London show's

move.

Our role will be to increase traffic to the events,' she said.

Fishburn Hedges account director Gordon Tempest-Hay will head the

corporate and PA account.
