Capital MSL will support the firm’s ongoing corporate and financial comms. The account will be led by Steffan Williams, MD and founder of Capital MSL.

Greene King previously retained the strategic comms arm of FTI Consulting (formerly FD).

Williams called Greene King the UK’s ‘leading pub retailer and brewer, with a heritage that stretches back more than 200 years’. He added: ‘Capital is looking forward to helping the company communicate its growth story as it expands its branded retail estate and consistently delivers industry-leading customer value, service and quality across the business.’

The UK pub industry has battled against tough economic conditions in recent times, but Greene King has continued to experience relatively strong performance.

This year the group has purchased three other pub groups – RealPubs, Cloverleaf and Capital Pub Company.

In June the firm announced profits of £140m and record revenue of more than £1bn, thanks to its market share in the pub dining market.
