Heineken UK appoints trade body chief exec as corporate relations director

Jeremy Beadles, chief executive of the Wine and Spirit Trade Association (WSTA), has been named corporate relations director for Heineken UK.

He has been at the WSTA, the lobbying organisation of the wine and spirit industry, for six years and will take up his Heineken role in the New Year.
 
Beadles commented: I have had a fantastic six years with the WSTA and, whilst I will be sad to leave, I am really looking forward to this new challenge. I leave behind me a great team and a thriving association.’
 
WSTA chairman Tim How said: ‘The last six years have seen a radical change in the way the WSTA works on behalf of our industry and I would like to thank Jeremy for his tremendous contribution to this. The Association’s standing with Government and the media has never been higher.’
 
The organisation has looked to lead the industry fight against minimum pricing on alcohol.
 
Nicola Sturgeon, the Scottish health secretary, this week unveiled a bill to introduce minimum alcohol pricing in Scotland.
 
Beadles said the move would ‘punish the vast majority of responsible consumers with higher prices’.
 
It is expected that introduction of the regulations will be a lengthy process given the expected legal challenges from the drinks industry.
