PUBLIC SECTOR: Furner Communications to aid DRC laws

The Disability Rights Commission (DRC) has hired Furner

Communications to develop a strategy on handling tough new laws on

disability discrimination. Provisions of the Disability Discrimination

Act, which come into effect in three years, require firms and services

to enforce disabled access at their buildings. The agency's Ben Furner

has been tasked with developing a launch strategy for a DRC guide to the

changes, to be released later this year, and also to develop a long-term

PR strategy in the run-up to 2004. Furner reports to policy head Marie

Pye.
