Voluntary Sector: Trustees get support

The Charity Commission is drawing together a range of organisations to jointly promote this year's Trustees' Week.

The week, which runs from 31 October to 6 November, has been developed by the commission to raise awareness of the work that charities' trustees do, through events in England, Scotland and Wales.

The commission's head of press and public affairs Sarah Miller said: 'We wanted to raise awareness by encouraging partners to arrange their own events, supporting them with promotional and press materials.'

Partners include Harrogate & Area Council for Voluntary Service, the National Union of Students and the National Council for Voluntary Organisations.

Joint events include speed matchmaking evenings involving charity representatives and trustees, and an annual awards ceremony, which will introduce a new Trustee of the Year category, in line with the campaign.
