Peter Gavan is launching his agency Strategic Judgement to offer business strategy and PR services.

Gavan said: ‘Strategic Judgement not only implements the widest range of public relations programmes but also analyses business strategies and communication strategies to ensure the aims and objectives are consistent and mutually reinforcing.

‘This ensures total focus on cost-effective implementation and no wasted effort.’

Joining him in the venture is Calvino Communications director Andrew Marsh, who brings public affairs experience; GR Event Management MD Gail Richards, who brings experience of corporate and not-for-profit events; and MediaAble founder Steve Ellis, a  media trainer.

They will work with Gavan in a collaborative capacity, but will not be employed by him.

Gavan left Severn Trent in 2010. He has held senior comms posts in fellow FTSE 100 companies National Grid and Invensys, as well as the oil industry with Total and Ireland's Viridian Group.

He was also previously director of issues and crisis management with Burson-Marsteller and was a political journalist and leader writer at Westminster for the London Evening Standard.
