The move comes only months after the company extended incumbent GolinHarris’ UK remit to include Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

EMC will retain GolinHarris as its EMEA PR agency.

GolinHarris has worked on the company’s UK account since 2002 and managed to hold on to the account after a competitive pitch process in June 2010.

Matt Buckley, senior manager, EMC EMEA communications, confirmed that the company’s UK PR contract had been put out to tender with final presentations from shortlisted agencies scheduled for October.

He said: ‘This is by no means a reflection on the work of our current agency, which will be asked to tender, but a reflection of a new communications remit for the UK which extends our requirement beyond traditional PR.’

EMC has recently signed a deal with Capgemini to deliver cloud-based service offerings for customers globally.

The five-year partnership will see both companies develop tailored client services based on EMC’s information management technology.

The services will focus on vertical markets and regional business communities in France, Germany, China, Brazil, the Netherlands, US and North America.
