The agency currently has a three-city Indian presence in Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai. From 1 October this will increase to seven following the addition of Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune.

The firm has nearly doubled its operations in India over the past two years, both in terms of staff size and revenue base. Edelman India currently has 120 employees working across three offices and said that the expansion was ‘driven by client needs’.

David Brain, president and CEO, Edelman Asia Pacific, commented: ‘This expansion is further indication of our commitment to the Indian PR market, as well as the added value we offer clients. We believe we are setting new benchmarks and standards in the strategic and digital communications space in India. Our recent wins will help us reinforce our presence as we continue to invest in talent, infrastructure and new business.’

Clients that Edelman has helped grow their brand in India include Harley-Davidson, LinkedIn and Cadbury Kraft Foods’ Oreo and Tang.

Robert Holdheim, managing director, Edelman India, said: ‘We are hiring in Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Pune to bolster our presence across the market. These resources are intended to service our existing client base as attention shifts beyond the main metros, and we will build on this structure per our needs and requirements in each city.’
