City & Corporate: UBS uses FD for crisis brief

Swiss bank UBS has engaged FD on a crisis comms brief around the $2bn losses incurred by British trader Kweku Adoboli.

The UBS media response in the UK is being led by Dominik von Arx, global head of comms at UBS investment bank and head of UBS group media relations for EMEA. He reports to Michael Willi, chief comms officer of UBS Group in Zurich.

The bank has retained FD in the UK for two years and is thought to have called in the agency to support its efforts to inform the media of the facts of the case and limit damage.

Andrew Walton, senior MD at FD, is leading the agency's involvement. Walton previously worked for French bank Societe Generale when trader Jerome Kerviel ran up losses of EUR4.9bn three years ago.

UBS confirmed it retained FD in the UK. Walton declined to comment.
