What benefits do you offer to staff?

Staff training and appraisal programme:

We have one of the highest investments in training in the industry, with 10% of profits being reinvested into staff training. Our award winning training programme is mapped back against our business objective areas and includes leadership, craft skills and business development modules all externally facilitated by experts in their field.

Every Shiner is formally appraised every six months, which includes a review of each member's personal objectives within the agency. All training needs are assessed during this review and Shine has a commitment to staff that all training requested will be catered for in the following year's plan.

How do you provide a good work/life balance for staff?

We take the work/ life balance of our staff very seriously, and believe in promoting a balanced culture in terms of work and home. Focus is given to ensuring this through the following; flexible working time, 3pm finish on a Friday, birthday bunk off, quarterly time management training, in house "Desk Doctoring" –(effective time management and improving in-house systems), extra holiday buy back, 1 month's sabbatical after 5 years service, unlimited holiday for Senior Account Managers and above. Staff are contracted for a 40 hour week and we make every effort for this to be a reality. Any days worked out of the working week are given back in lieu.

Describe your internships policy:

We offer five paid three month internships per year. All candidates work on client accounts from the start of their employment and each intern works into a specific Shine team to ensure consistency. Interns are eligible for training and coaching sessions, and Shine offers all graduates development and training benefits. All interns undertake the Shine Induction Programme, to ensure they are fully immersed in agency culture and ways of working.

In addition Shine has launched its School Leavers' Scheme to provide an alternative route into the industry for school leavers who don't want to go on to university.
