Schwartz will become part of the MSLGROUP, rebranding to Schwartz MSL.
Schwartz is an independent US consultancy, established in 1990 with 180 employees in its four offices in Boston, San Francisco, Stockholm and London.
Bryan Scanlon, president of Schwartz, and Ari Milstein, chief operating officer, will run Schwartz MSL, reporting to Jim Tsokanos, president of MSLGROUP Americas.
Schwartz’s European offices will be integrated immediately into existing MSL operations.
Kelly Walsh, CEO of MSL London, said that the move was ‘very significant’ for MSL London.
She commented: ‘It boosts our UK capabilities in the increasingly important areas of healthcare and technology; particularly clean, medical and bio-technology and illustrates our commitment to strengthening our presence in the fast-growing digital and healthcare markets.
Kristina Ebenius, MD Europe, Schwartz Communications, added: ‘Today brings together two agencies that complement each other perfectly. MSLGROUP UK and MSL London will be strengthened with dedicated and specialized healthcare and technology experts, and now Schwartz MSL will be able to provide current and new clients with top-notch consumer expertise and an array of new engagement and marketing services worldwide.’
A Publicis statement said that the acquisition boosted two key areas it has identified as growth business; healthcare and technology.
The company noted that, according to PwC, global spending on healthcare is expected to increase by more than 50 per cent by 2020, while Datamonitor reports that the technology industry is expected to grow by 7.6 per cent annually through 2015.
Olivier Fleurot, CEO of MSLGROUP concluded: ‘Schwartz is a company that perfectly complements our existing skill-set and our geographical strengths.’
