Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

Westminster Advisers has set up a scholarship at the London School of Economics to provide financial support to a student who would otherwise be unable to take up their place at university.

The first scholarship will be awarded at the beginning of the 2011/2012 academic year, specifically for the BSc Government programme.

Chelgate has hired the founder and former editor of Sustain Magazine, Jim McClelland, as a senior consultant. McClelland will contribute to Chelgate's specialist environment, renewable energy and built environment teams.

Joseph Rowntree Foundation has appointed Gordon Hector as public affairs manager. Hector, who was previously a consultant at Fishburn Hedges, will head up the organisation's new public affairs function.

Hanson Search, the comms recruitment firm, has appointed Janie Emmerson as an associate director leading its UK public affairs and policy division. Emmerson most recently worked for Morgan Hunt, where she was based for seven years. Since leaving Morgan Hunt 13 months ago, Emmerson has been travelling in Central and South America.
