Consolidated will focus on promoting the consumer elements of Zero Waste Scotland's work, encouraging people to reduce waste and recycle more.

Zero Waste Scotland press and PR manager Nicola McGovern said: 'Inspiring behavioural change in consumers is one of our top priorities, and this appointment will help us raise awareness of our programmes and promote the zero-waste agenda to key audiences.'

Will Holt, Edinburgh-based partner at Consolidated PR, said the agency would be 'leaning heavily on attention-grabbing creativity and fresh thinking'.

Zero Waste Scotland aims to get Scotland to achieve a 70 per cent recycling rate by 2025.
