Autonomy, the UK tech firm at the centre of a £7.1bn takeover by Hewlett-Packard, switched its financial PR from FD to Brunswick only weeks before the bid.

FD had handled Autonomy financial comms for 13 years and was called back in to advise the firm alongside Brunswick once HP's bid was lodged.

Foster's Group has taken on StockWell Group to support UK media relations around its SABMiller bid defence, led by co-founders Tim Burt and Philip Gawith. SABMiller, which bid unsuccessfully for Foster's Group in June, came back with a £6bn hostile bid. SABMiller used FD in Australia to support comms around its bid in June and has now extended FD's remit to the UK.

Cardew Group MD Rupert Pittman is leaving the agency world to become comms chief of British defence contractor Chemring Group, where he will become director of group comms and investor relations on 15 September.

Liquidnet, the global equity trading platform, has hired Cubitt Consulting to handle corporate and financial comms. Cubitt won the account from Fishburn Hedges.

Allanfield GroUP, the British insurer, has hired Redleaf Polhill to advise on its admission to London's Alternative Investment Market.
