HONG KONG: Edelman PR Worldwide has promoted Michael Geczi, its existing vice-president of financial PR, to its top financial communications post in Asia-Pacific.
In the newly-created role, Geczi has a remit to oversee all financial PR in the agency's offices across Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Seoul, Taipei, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur and Sydney.
As president of Asia-Pacific financial communications, Geczi reports to Jerry Hendin, president for Edelman in Asia-Pacific.
Geczi will also relocate from Los Angeles to Hong Kong.
'Much is changing in Asia-Pacific and at a rapid pace. The companies here have needs extending well beyond the IR services that have traditionally been offered,' said Hendin.
'With Mike managing our effort in the region - and with his ability to co-ordinate with our financial communications teams in the US, UK and Europe - Edelman will be positioned to offer high-end, multi-market consulting on issues such as mergers and acquisitions, bankruptcies and restructurings, financial crises, corporate governance, listings and IPOs.'
Prior to joining Edelman last year, Geczi was Gavin Anderson & Company president and Ogilvy Adams & Rinehart senior managing director - financial.
He has also worked as a journalist for The Wall Street Journal in the US and had a spell as markets and investments editor for Business Week magazine.
