Premier Foods: has suffered a heavy drop in profits

The owner of Hovis, Mr Kipling, Sharwood’s and Lloyd Grossman brands saw Mike Clarke become its new CEO earlier this week after a heavy drop in profits, disputes with some of the UK’s largest retailers, a falling share price and significant debt.

This period of volatility has also seen comms director Lisa Attenborough join the firm within the past year and a review of agency relationships across the board.

Maitland was Premier’s incumbent financial PR agency and retained the account after a competitive pitch last month.

Attenborough said: ‘Premier Foods has been through a lot of change during the past couple of years and recognises the new challenges that lie ahead. It was natural that we would look to review our financial and corporate comms to ensure that we have the right support.’

The account team is headed by Maitland CEO Neil Bennett, with partners Emma Burdett and Brian Hudspith leading on investor relations and corporate comms respectively.

Tom Buchanan will lead on financial comms when he joins Maitland as senior partner from Brunswick in September.
