The ALI launches in April to take over the inspection of work-based training from the Training Standards Council and the adult education work of the Further Education Funding Council.

TSC director of communications Nicky Perry takes on the same role within the ALI. Meanwhile, TSC media and communciations manager Suzy Powling becomes ALI internal communications manager. An external communications manager position has yet to be filled.

Powling said: 'The ALI has a far wider remit than the Training Standards Council and this expansion to create separate internal and external communications posts reflects that.'

Oxford-based agency Razor was appointed last December to develop the ALI's internal and external communications strategy.

'We are commissioned until the end of April, but the contract is open-ended as we hope to work together as long as necessary to support the establishment of the new organisation,' said Razor director Chris Woodcock.
