Weber Shandwick has appointed a UK business development director, who is joining from Edelman.

Edelman director Amber O’Connor joins in September and will report to London vice-chairman Fiona Noble.

Weber Shandwick UK and EMEA CEO Colin Byrne said: ‘She intuitively understands what clients are looking for – and knows how to bring the best skills to the job. She will be a great asset to the team.’

O’Connor will work to market the firm’s digital, social and mobile comms multi-platform offer, working with practice heads as well as the newly launched Creation team.

She joins after five years at Edelman, where she was part of the global client leadership team, overseeing the international Unilever account.

During her time at Edelman, she founded the UK consumer health offering, leading campaigns for a clients such as Seven Seas, Johnson & Johnson and GlaxoSmithKline.

O’Connor has also worked as an associate director at Fleishman Hillard.
