> Greater Manchester Police has appointed Hannah Stoneman as head of PR.
She heads a team of two PROs and also oversees the work of the force's museum volunteers and the police band.
Stoneman freelanced at the force last year, managing its pounds 3.2m campaign to combat street robbery.
'This is a force of around 10,000 people and there needs to be a good level of communication to them,' said Stoneman.
She has previously worked for Mason Williams in Manchester and at Harrison Cowley's Leeds office, before leaving last year to become a freelance consultant.
Stoneman succeeds Stuart Render, who has joined the First Group, and she reports to press and public affairs director Colette Booth.
Stoneman will be involved in a Greater Manchester Police campaign to curb alcohol-related violence in city centres.
The force's PR department was praised last year for its handling of the Harold Shipman murder case, but generated negative publicity when assistant communications director John Williamson was suspended after allegations of sexual harassment.
