DIARY: Choat sets up space for all PROs to Lounge in

Sick and tired of the same old venues for launches or press parties? Then follow the example of Nexus Choat chairman Jonathan Choat, and start up your own private members club.

Choat, a part-time restaurateur as well as food and drink agency veteran, this week launched The Lounge, a gay private members' club in the heart of Mayfair.

And so he can't be accused of being bad at his own PR, Choat has written to every PR agency in the Capital in a bid to drum up interest.

The twist, as far as Choat is concerned, is that instead of paying room rates and being restricted to buying the venue's hospitality, at the Lounge all you buy is the space.

'You can bring your own drink or your own food which we can then cook for you, or you can also bring your own chef to use our kitchen,' he says.

The rate card prices the whole club at pounds 600 per day, but if it's just a posh meeting area you want, the individual bars are available for just pounds 25 an hour. A bargain, perhaps.
