HONG KONG: Swiss investment bank UBS Warburg has poached Gavin Anderson managing director Aubrey Ho for its most senior PR post in Asia.

Ho takes up the role as executive director and head of corporate communications and marketing across Asia at UBS this week. Her remit covers all of the Asia-Pacific region with the exception of Japan.

She leaves Gavin Anderson after four years with the company, where she started as director of financial services before being named managing director and deputy CEO of Gavin Anderson Hong Kong last June.

Her role at UBS carries responsibility for managing the bank's profile and brand, with advertising, event management and media relations under her remit.

Her first task will be to recruit staff for the bank's communications department in Singapore.

She will report to Brad Orgill, head of Asian Equities in Hong Kong.

Gavin Anderson president and CEO John Holland said a replacement to manage Ho's ABN Amro and Solomon Smith Barney accounts would be sought but not for the managing director role.

'An MD at Gavin Anderson is similar to a partner in a law or accountancy firm. Recruitment is made by the executive committee on a global basis but the job doesn't entail the running of an office,' said Holland.

Holland will personally take over day-to-day management.

At UBS Warburg Ho replaces Renate Boerner, who left in July to join internet company iReality.
