PUBLIC SECTOR: Best Value lead inspectors all appointed

The Audit Commission has completed the hiring process for lead inspectors on the Best Value Inspection Team, set up by the Government to check on the quality of local council services. The latest to start is Dorothy Welsh, formerly a senior manager at East Herts Council. Welsh is one of six lead inspectors - two of whom are yet to start - covering the central region, stretching from Essex across to Hereford & Worcester and bordering Yorkshire in the north. She reports to regional director Paul Kirby and heads a team of ten inspectors covering a section of the central area.
