Matchtight Media has won a competitive pitch to provide media services for the Manchester Commonwealth Games in 2002.

The games are expected to draw up to 2,000 journalists from around the world.

Directors Caroline Searle and Bryn Vaile, the latter an Olympic yachting gold medallist in 1988, will run the account, reporting to commercial director Niels de Vos.

The company will run the main press centre at the City of Manchester stadium, as well as 14 subsidiary centres at venues in the north-west.

M2002 already has a media and PR manager to handle enquiries in the run-up to the games - Jane Price.

Matchtight has carved a niche in media services for sports events, including Euro 96 in England, four Commonwealth Games and the Winter Olympics.
