Youth clothing and footwear brand Kickers has hired Slice PR after a four-way pitch.

Responsibilities handed to the agency include PR and sponsorship strategy as well as building the profile within youth and music arenas.

With a new range of products in the offing and a tie-in with the upcoming London Fashion Week agreed, Slice PR will have to hit the ground running.

Slice marketing director Paula Barrow will head the account, reporting to Willie Irvine, who holds the same title at Kickers.

The Pentland Group, which owns the Kickers brand, hired Irvine in March this year. He said: 'Slice's strong association with the music scene was a very strong factor in appointing the agency. We hope that Kickers will be seen to be an integral part of this culture, as it has been now for 30 years.'

The brand has been extended from shoes and clothing to accessories including bags, purses and mobile phone holders.

However, Kickers' design classics have not fallen by the wayside - Kick-Hi boots are also set for a relaunch.
