The Chartered Management Institute has called on Hanover to raise its profile among key political figures in Westminster and Whitehall.

The CMI, which represents 91,000 individual members and 450 corporate partners, has awarded Charles Lewington’s agency a three-year contract to handle public affairs.

Hanover will support CMI in promoting higher standards of leadership and management in the UK workplace. The public affairs programme will be based on raising CMI’s profile and influence with key political and government audiences, demonstrating the key role played by professional leaders and the value of professionally accredited management training.

As well as providing strategic advice and monitoring, Hanover will build on the public affairs activity already under way at CMI. This includes assisting with CMI’s research programme and its support for the all-party parliamentary group on management.

Chief executive Ruth Spellman said Hanover had been hired ‘to take CMI’s engagement on policy to the next level’.

She added: ‘The need for outstanding management and leadership in driving public sector reform and private sector growth is clear, and we have brought in Hanover to help drive this agenda forward.’
