Outstanding Public Relations Consultancy went to Tangerine PR. Judges said: ‘Tangerine does everything well! It is clearly an inspiring consultancy – for client and employees alike – with strong values and a consistent record of success, based on clever ideas, hard work and an exceptionally sincere relationship with its clients.'

Other winners on the night included MHP Health Mandate, which won two awards for the corporate and business communications award (‘commissioning in the new world’) and the healthcare campaign (in conjunction with the Rarer Cancers Foundation for ‘Securing a Cancer Drugs Fund’).

Also winning twice was Siren for their media relations and Broadcast campaigns (on ‘Royal Caribbean Cruises: Launching new ship Celebrity Eclipse with a repatriation mission).

The internal magazine or newspaper award went to 2010 winners The Soldier Team for their Soldier Magazine and Teesside University also won the Website award for the second year running.

CIPR CEO Jane Wilson said: ‘Competition was as fierce as ever, producing an exceptional quality of entries – outstanding, considering the economic challenges of last year. The public relations world has proved not just that it is resilient but that even when budgets are tight, creativity and a focus on return on investment come to the fore.’

The winners of the 2011 CIPR Excellence Awards were announced at a dinner in The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London. CIPR President (and Fellow) Paul Mylrea hosted and Julia Hartley-Brewer, journalist, broadcaster and presenter at LBC 97.3FM, compèred.
