P&O Princess Cruises - the world's third largest cruise company which recently demerged from parent company P&O - has handed Gavin Anderson and Company a six-figure PR brief to reposition itself as independent.

The company, which listed on the New York and London stock exchanges last month, has tasked GA with handling the cross-border account in the US and UK.

GA was appointed after a competitive three-way pitch and its remit covers investor, analyst and media relations to position the company with the financial communities.

The agency's London CEO Marc Popiolek will lead a team of five on the account, with US MD Scott Tagliarino heading a four-strong team in the US. Popiolek reports to P&O Princess Cruises IR and corporate communications manager Caroline Kepple-Palmer.
