Flack Power Book party special: PRWeek Power Book

Last Wednesday saw the launch of this year's PRWeek Power Book at the Hotel Rafayel in London's Battersea.

Fuelled on champers, the UK's most powerful comms people partied like the world was about to end ... In the lift, Flack stood next to a rather shabby-looking gentleman. Top celeb PR man Gary Farrow (for it was he) told us that, despite appearances, he was actually an official Lord 'of somewhere in Leicestershire'. A birthday present, apparently. So now there are three Lords of PR ... Matt Neale, co-chief of GolinHarris, was in the mood to enjoy himself, ordering endless champagne from the bar once the free fizz had run out. Unfortunately Flack happened to notice Neale's black Amex card was declined - twice ...

One thirsty PR boss refused to be defeated by the free fizz running dry. Weber Shandwick corporate and public affairs chairman Jon McLeod developed a plan of walking out and then back in again. 'It's the only way to do it,' he was overheard exclaiming ... Among the star performers were late-night appearances from elusive Downing Street spokesman Steve Field and his Downing Street and Cabinet Office colleagues Vickie Sheriff and Jenny Grey. Flack can only presume the cuts have limited the chance for free government booze ...

Finally, Flack overheard one guest reminiscing about their 'brilliant' days at an agency back in the 80s that featured a 'bowl of cocaine', and bosses enticing employees to brainstorm with £50 notes ...
