Centrica has appointed Lloyds Banking Group's Paul Fincham as a director of comms for the British Gas business.

He will report to Catherine May, group director of corporate affairs at Centrica. At Lloyds he currently heads media relations for the group's retail brands.

Whitefox Technologies, a small UK tech company fighting a £100m-plus court battle with international food group Tate & Lyle, has turned to Media House. The agency's crisis team is supporting the firm in its dispute with Tate & Lyle in the New York State Supreme Court. The allegations surround efforts by T&L to produce ethanol at US factories.

Ius Laboris, the world's largest alliance of human resources law firms, has hired Myddleton Communications as its first external PR consultancy. The Brussels-based group was established in 2001 and now has more than 2,500 lawyers in 133 cities.

DWS Investments, the retail asset management division of Deutsche Bank, has called in Broadgate Mainland to manage its PR activities in the UK.

BrandAlley, the online private sales firm, has drafted in Abchurch Communications to handle corporate PR as the firm looks to raise up to EUR100m (£87m) to acquire smaller operators in the sector.
