MEDIA: Sutherland takes up deputy editor position at Later

The staff fallout from defunct music title Melody Maker has continued at publisher IPC with the appointment of Mark Sutherland as deputy editor of men's magazine Later.

The staff fallout from defunct music title Melody Maker has continued at publisher IPC with the appointment of Mark Sutherland as deputy editor of men's magazine Later.

Sutherland had been editor of the music weekly, which was closed at the end of last year.

The move at least brings an end to the three-month hiatus at Later following Sam Delaney's departure from the 77,000-circulation monthly in November last year.

Simon Lewis has been promoted from staff writer to the new position of features editor. Both he and Sutherland will report to editor Phil Hilton.

Later is published by IPC ignite!, the new branding for IPC Music & Sport. Sutherland was features editor of NME from 1996 to 1997 and joined IPC from emap's Smash Hits in 1995.
