WPP-owned financial consultancy Buchanan Communications has snatched rival City PR firm Merlin Financial director Bobby Morse.
Morse leaves Merlin after five-and-a-half years to join Buchanan as a director.
He was the first director - and PR employee - to join Merlin co-founders Paul Downes and David Simonson. At Merlin, Morse specialised in leisure, media and technology sectors.
Morse will continue to concentrate in those areas at Buchanan, where he reports to chief executive Richard Oldworth.
'I wanted to work in an organisation with international aspirations - it was particularly attractive to work with a company in the WPP network that has sister agencies such as Hill & Knowlton, Ogilvy and J Walter Thompson,' said Morse.
Morse joins Buchanan's 36-strong team, which advises some 200 corporate clients.
Prior to Merlin, Morse worked as a communications executive at French merchant bank Paribas Capital Markets (now BNP Paribas) and before that, as an account manager at Wall Street financial communications agency Georgeson.
Morse began his career in corporate finance, working for Beeson Gregory, the growth company investment bank.
Buchanan's current client list includes Coffee Republic, Chrysalis Group, Aston Villa Football Club, Domino's Pizza and Thornton's.
Merlin MD Simonson said it would replace Morse in the next few months as part of a recruitment drive, which will see the agency take on another two directors, two consultants and support staff, increasing the staff from 15 to more than 20.
