Coca-Cola sets up Indian PR arm

NEW DELHI: Global beverage giant, Coca-Cola, has created a new public affairs department for its India operations.

NEW DELHI: Global beverage giant, Coca-Cola, has created a new public affairs department for its India operations.

Eminent Indian communication specialist Irfan Khan has been appointed to lead this newly created unit. Khan was formerly with Hindustan Lever Limited (HLL), the Indian arm of Unilever, and has been credited with launching HLL's public relations department.

The appointment comes as Coca-Cola India restructures its communications division. The previous external affairs department has been re-vamped to create a new public affairs department comprising three divisions in corporate affairs, external affairs and community affairs.

Khan is scheduled to join his new post in Coca-Cola from the first week of October and will serve as vice-president, public affairs.

He has experience in management of consumer and corporate affairs and also with building global brands for local markets.
