Former Citigate Dewe Rogerson director John Rudofsky has joined small independent agency Helsen Communications to launch its City and financial division.

Rudofsky - a founder of Citigate Communications, which merged with Dewe Rogerson in October 1998 - was appointed as a director to spearhead Helsen's drive into the financial sector.

Two-year-old consultancy Helsen, which has until now specialised in corporate PR for the building, construction, property and hi-tech areas, is aiming to extend its services to IR and financial PR for wide-ranging companies.

Helsen chief executive David Helsen said: 'John's appointment gives the agency financial capability and the opportunity to go forward and move into different sectors.'

Rudofsky left Citigate Dewe Rogerson after 12 years with the agency, taking three clients with him: wall coverings and fabrics firm Walker Greenbank; recruitment services company PSD Group and international support services business Davis Service Group.

'As a founding director, it was quite a wrench leaving Citigate, but it was an amicable split,' said Rudofsky, who worked with clients including Rolls Royce and Commercial Union. 'I just decided I wanted to be part of a smaller agency and concentrate on a handful of clients,' he added.
