The Boston-based firm is a strategic marketing and PR agency focused on the financial and professional services sectors.

The agency has also hired Toby Mitchenall as director to run the London office. He joins from Private Equity International where he was editor and has also previously worked at Citigate Dewe Rogerson.

Mitchenall will focus on providing strategic communications services for clients from across the financial and professional services sectors, including asset management firms, private equity firms, hedge funds, financial technology companies, accounting and consulting firms and law firms, in the UK and elsewhere in Europe.

Bill Haynes, president, BackBay Communications, commented: ‘We have successfully served our clients’ needs in Europe for several years from our Boston and New York offices.  However, as our financial services client base has become increasingly global, we believe this is an ideal time to open an office in one of the world’s leading centres for international finance to serve existing clients and attract new ones.’

BackBay’s existing clients include Grant Thornton, Pamlico Capital, Pipeline Trading, Ridgemont Equity Partners, TA Associates, TD Bank and Waud Capital Partners.
