The agency is currently in the process of finding a replacement for Wright, with an announcement expected shortly.
Wright said: ‘I think the main attraction is that Australia is a new market. It’s a new challenge. It’s a market I haven’t worked in before – I do a lot of international work but not in Australasia.’
Wright wrote in an internal email to his colleagues: ‘This was a hugely emotional decision having been part of the leadership team that has developed what has become the Grayling business down the years.’
In the email he went on to thank UK and Ireland MD Sally Rhodes, UK and Ireland CEO Loretta Tobin and international CEO Michael Murphy.
This is the second recent high-profile exit from the agency, with Tobin announcing her departure earlier this month to take a career break.
