The Association for Financial Markets in Europe, which hired Gordon Brown’s spokesman Simon Lewis as chief executive in September, is repitching its retained PR account, currently held by M: Communications.
The AFME, formed in late 2009, has looked to build a heavyweight lobbying presence to argue on a national and EU level against onerous regulation of the financial industry.
The AFME’s comms director Rob McIvor, hired in March 2010 after serving in senior PR posts at Citigroup, Barclays and the FSA, confirmed the organisation was conducting a four-way review including the incumbent.
Final pitches are taking place next week and an app-ointment is expected to follow quickly afterwards. M: Communications has been handling the AFME’s PR since the organisation’s inception.
This week the AFME warned lawmakers in Brussels that proposals to regulate over-the-counter derivatives could have ‘a serious negative impact on competition’.
