Continental Airlines, the world’s sixth-largest airline, has handed
its UK and Ireland PR account to Harrison Cowley following a four-way
The account was previously held by McCann-Weber PR, which was
Continental’s first retained PR agency. However, with McCann’s London
office closing in April, Continental decided to review the account. Biss
Lancaster, Affinity and the PR arm of Continental’s advertising agency
HDM also pitched.
The brief is mainly consumer, with Harrison Cowley implementing an
extensive trade, national and regional consumer media relations
campaign. A team in London will co-ordinate offices in Edinburgh,
Manchester, Birmingham and London.
Alan Twigg, consumer director, will head the account, reporting to Ian
Brocklesby, Continental’s marketing manager, UK and Ireland.
Twigg said: ’This is a particularly exciting opportunity as we are
taking the account on at a vital time for the airline sector with
competition getting fiercer ever day.’
Continental, based in Houston, Texas, serves well over 200 destinations,
