PR Paul Philpotts has spent the downtime prior to joining Square Mile as

chief executive of its corporate division putting the finishing touches

to his home cinema.

In a bid for that authentic cinema experience he has spent a couple of

thousand pounds on purchasing a projection screen, state of the art DVD

player, plus special super woofer and bass shaker speakers for his

attic.

’I have been gradually acquiring the equipment over the past year and

have finally got round to installing it properly,’ said Philpotts.

Favouring loud and violent films, Philpotts has a special interest in

science fiction and action movies. His favourite movies include the Die

Hard series and 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Like many hobbies, Philpotts’ love of cinema borders on addiction as he

buys an estimated six or seven DVDs per month. His next major purchase

is expected to be the Hollywood blockbuster Independence Day, which is

due for DVD release any day now.

According to Philpotts it was either going to be the home cinema or a

drum kit.

In fact after reading last week’s diary story about Roger Fennings’

guitar playing. Philpotts would like to throw down a challenge to jam

with Fennings on a few choice cuts.
