Willis, the world’s third largest insurance broker, has appointed

its first marketing and communications director and looks set to

restructure its PR.

Caroline Collard joins from Pearl Assurance, where she was head of HR

communications. She reports to group executive chairman John Reeve.

As well as internal and external communications, Collard will handle

brand management and also concentrate on Willis’s worldwide business

units.

’We want to get more out of what we can provide at group level and make

sure everyone understands the brand,’ she said. Willis operates in 100

countries and has 10,000 employees.

At present, Collard heads a team of three although there are likely to

be additions. There is a vacancy for an internal communications manager,

but this will not be filled until Collard completes a review.

’It’s about what I feel would be necessary to provide sufficient support

at corporate level for the business units,’ she said. ’There is room for

some sort of restructure. No doubt there will be some changes.’

Collard said she will also review the potential need for agency

help.

’I’ve got to get my head around the business a bit more,’ she said.

Peter Stevens, the former director of corporate communications, who

retires next month after 12 years, has used Ludgate in the past.

Citigate Dewe Rogerson works on Willis’s internal newsletter.
