AMV signals PR interest as Frew moves to board.

Advertising group Abbott Mead Vickers has elevated Anita Frew, founder director of its investor relations firm Frew Macmaster, to its main board.

Advertising group Abbott Mead Vickers has elevated Anita Frew,

founder director of its investor relations firm Frew Macmaster, to its

main board.

The move comes as the advertising and marketing group confirmed it is

actively pursuing further PR agency acquisitions.

Like fellow ad groups McCann-Erickson and Bozell Worldwide, AMV is keen

to build its PR interests. It is believed that the firm is currently in

discussions with two specialist firms: one in financial PR, the other in

the consumer area.

Frew, who started Frew Macmaster in 1991 with AMV’s backing, took her

seat on the board at this week’s Annual General Meeting. Frew acts as

the group’s own investor relations adviser.

An ex-fund manager, Frew has been instrumental in giving AMV credibility

among analysts, investors and City journalists.

Frew will retain her operating role at Frew Macmaster.

She is the only representative of the group’s PR empire on the main

board.

AMV’s other PR companies are Freud Communications, Hammond

Communications and Fishburn Hedges.

Prior to setting up her eponymous company, Frew was the director for

corporate development at advertising and marketing group WPP.
