MEDIA BRIEFS: Top regional post for Loughrey at the BBC

The BBC has promoted Pat Loughrey, controller of BBC Northern Ireland, to director of nations and regions. He succeeds Mark Thompson, who was made director of television and Greg Dyke’s deputy in effect in April. Loughrey will be responsible for all programmes in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and for all regional and local services in England, including 40 local radio stations.
