BORDER LINES: San Francisco - SCEA and 989 Studios merge

Sony Computer Entertainment America, responsible for Sony’s PlayStation and software business in north America, has restructured its PR function ahead of the launch of PlayStation 2. SCEA will merge with sister publishing and development group 989 Studios next month, with SCEA’s management taking control of the new organisation. PR director Molly Smith, who handles corporate communications for SCEA, adds 989’s PR to her brief. She replaces 989’s PR head Helene Sheeler, who is leaving the company. Fleishman-Hillard LA will handle the PlayStation 2 launch in the US.
