In his role, Luce will direct the firm’s growth strategies and best practices for client services, marketing and HR.

The news follows the shock announcement on Tuesday that the company's global CEO Paul Taaffe would be resigning after 18 years at the WPP-owned consultancy.

Taaffe's departure is understood to be in response to H&K's merger with US public affairs shop Public Strategies (PSI) in November, which has seen PSI staffers taking key leadership positions in a new structure.

Most recently Luce was president, global client management at Weber Shandwick, where he developed a global management programme for the firm’s multinational clients.

Ken has deep expertise in crisis, corporate reputation management, public affairs and marketing communications, helping to develop award-winning global programmes.

Jack Martin said: 'I believe [Luce's] experience will be instrumental in continuing to target client service as our number one objective. In his more than 20 years in the agency and corporate worlds, Ken has the proven experience of building programmes and establishing tried-and-tested alternative models of consultancy that deliver the best value and results to clients.'

Luce added: 'I’m excited to join H&K, a firm that is known for its exceptional client service and a heritage of engaging with clients. I look forward to collaborating with the teams on new and enhanced programmes to continue to grow the firm’s global business, practices and sectors, always with an eye to stellar client service and results.'
