VIENNA: The Austrian ministry for foreign affairs is seeking an

agency to promote the work of its foreign development agency.

The Austrian Development Corporation provides financial assistance to

developing countries and supports non-government organisations, such as

bodies promoting health, education and agriculture.

The projects funded by the corporation are run in countries including

Nicaragua, Uganda and Mozambique.

The brief is to handle media relations, which includes producing

publications, and promoting the work the organisation does to the

Austrian public by targeting national newspapers such as Die Presse and

Der Standard.

The corporation organises up to five press trips each year and the

agency would be expected to organise and promote these.

The winning agency would work closely with the corporation’s head of

communications, Heinz Gabler, who leads a three-strong team.

The corporation receives pounds 142 million each year of public

money.

Gabler commented: ’This is public money so we have to show what we are

doing with it.’

The corporation’s incumbent PR agency is IKP.
