The House of Commons CLG Committee held an inquiry on Monday into the scope of the revised Code of Recommended Practice on Local Authority Publicity, examining its impact on all tiers of local government. It was expected to feature presentations from the Local Government Association and the Newspaper Society, and examined whether the seven principles encompass the full scope of guidance required by local authorities.

Ogilvy Group Belgium has been awarded the framework contract for strategic comms campaigns for the European Commission's directorate-general for the environment. It is worth a maximum of EUR2.5m per year and is renewable twice for a total contract period of three years. Ogilvy PR/Brussels will manage the relationship with the commission, working on the campaigns with Ogilvy & Mather/Brussels and experts from the agency's network across Europe.

Staffordshire County Council has promoted head of comms Jacqui McKinlay to be the council's first director of comms and customer services.
