BORDER LINES: Corbett gets Hitachi promotion

CALIFORNIA: Hitachi America, which makes and markets consumer electronics, computer systems and semiconductors, has promoted PR director Gerard Corbett to general manager of corporate communications. In the newly-created post, Corbett will oversee all PR, advertising and on-line and off-line marketing and communications. He will also co-ordinate US employee communications through the firm’s Japanese parent Hitachi Ltd. A former computer programmer for NASA, Corbett also has 25 years of investor relations and corporate communications experience.
