Labour peer Lord Mandelson is to launch an international comms consultancy with backing from WPP Group. Global Counsel LLP is expected to be chaired by Mandelson and run by Ben Wegg-Prosser.

BA will begin a trawl for an agency to handle its global PR account next week, after it emerged the airline is to part company with incumbent Fleishman-Hillard. The agency will stop working on its £1.5m contract in March.

The Telegraph Media Group is planning to charge for online news content next year, according to a Financial Times report. It would see The Telegraph join News International and the FT in putting content behind a paywall.

Health and Safety Executive comms chief Sally Sykes will be the CIPR president for 2012. She will begin her responsibilities in January as president elect. The 2011 president is Paul Mylrea.

Policy Exchange comms director Amy Fisher has left the think tank to become a special adviser to Environment Secretary Caroline Spelman.

Lexis Sport has promoted associate director Emma Newell to head of sport. She replaces Will Oscroft, who moved to Falcon and Associates as marketing director.

Publicasity has hired Ketchum Pleon associate director Adam Rutherford to spearhead music, fashion and retail offerings.
